NFL Rumors: Panthers Open To Bringing Back Quarterback
While speaking with reporters, Carolina Panthers GM Scott Fitterer stated that he's open to bringing back Cam Newton for the 2022 season.
Although the club is planning to go with Sam Darnold as their QB1, they could look at a player like Newton to compete with the former for the job. He is a very familiar face and of course reunited with the team last season, too.
Newton struggled in his return to Carolina, though. In eight games, he threw four touchdowns, five interceptions, and completed 54.8% of his passes. With that, he sported a 0-5 record as their starter, so it's fair to say that it wasn't the best of reunions.
However, with Newton still available and the team in need of some depth at the quarterback position, perhaps we will see him once again as a member of the Panthers.
