NFL Rumors: Surprising Team Linked To Jimmy Garoppolo

It's already been established that the San Francisco 49ers are planning to trade Jimmy Garoppolo and make Trey Lance their starting quarterback. The 30-year-old has understandably been linked to teams like Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers, but apparently, it isn't stopping there. According to Jeremy Fowler, he's heard rumblings that the New Orleans Saints are also interested in bringing the veteran in.

This is surprising to hear, as Jameis Winston played very well as their starter last season. Before sustaining his season-ending injury, he went 5-2 as their starter and looked like a legitimate long-term answer for the position. With that, he threw 14 touchdowns, three interceptions, and 1,170 yards. Yet, it's now clear that New Orleans is still considering other options and Garoppolo is one of them.

In 15 starts this season, Garoppolo threw 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and 3,810 yards. With that, he had a 9-6 record as their starter, so overall, he managed to win games for them. However, he also did show some moments of inconsistency in the process, too.

If players like Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson stay put, Jimmy G is going to be the biggest name available via trade. Therefore, the Saints will have several teams to go up against for his services. Let's see what happens.
