NFL Rumors: Lions To Sign Cornerback Long-Term

According to Dave Birkett, Detroit Lions cornerback Amani Oruwariye is interested in signing a long-term extension with the team. This comes after the team has made it known that they are willing to commit long-term to him, too.

With this development, it is clear that an extension is on the way. The Lions and Oruwariye will have to iron out the financial details, but it is very encouraging that he is expressing interest in sticking around.

Oruwariye is coming off of a break-out campaign, so it makes sense that the Lions want to keep him around. In 14 starts in 2021, he recorded a career-high six interceptions to go along with 57 combined tackles. He also has plenty of time to continue to progress, too, as he is still only 25 years old. Alas, we will have to wait and see if these two can get a deal done shortly.
