NFL Rumors: Panthers Considering Re-Signing Quarterback
For much of this offseason, there have been rumblings that Cam Newton would once again be playing for the Carolina Panthers for the 2022 season. At this point, a contract has not been agreed upon, but there is still a chance that one will be. According to GM Scott Fitterer, the team is still communicating with the veteran QB.
After one season with the New England Patriots, Newton returned to the Panthers last season. It definitely was not like his first tenure with the team, as he struggled mightily. In eight games, he threw four touchdowns, five interceptions, and 684 yards. In his five starts, he also failed to record a win.
However, given his resume and the Panthers QB trouble, it could make sense for them to give him one last shot. Let's see if the former MVP ends up back in Carolina from here.
