New York Giants Sign Former Baltimore Ravens Safety to Practice Squad

The New York Giants have added an experienced veteran to their practice squad. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo announced Wednesday afternoon that the team was signing former Baltimore Ravens safety Tony Jefferson:
Jefferson was cut by the Ravens after falling behind recent new additions Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams during training camp. The team reportedly wanted Jefferson back for their own practice squad, but he must have decided the New York Giants presented a clearer path to eventual playing time.

Jefferson arrives at the Giants sporting a preexisting relationship with new defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale, who served as a defensive coach for the Ravens over the past ten years. Jefferson started 35 games for the Ravens over that period, nabbing a pair of interceptions and 12 passes defended. He'll likely serve as depth until injuries clear a spot for him on the 53-man roster.
