Chargers QB Avoids Serious Injury During Thursday Night Blockbuster

In a blockbuster Thursday Night Football game, the Chiefs and Chargers put on a show in their first of two divisional matchups in 2022, and while there were some noteworthy performances, few were as great as the toughness Justin Herbert showed after coming back into the game following some brutal shots. Many expected him to sustain a serious rib injury which would see him miss at minimum two weeks, but today, the Chargers head coach Brandon Staley gave a very promising update.

While the timetable for Herbert's return is still up in the air, Staley today confirmed that Herbert suffered a rib cartilage injury, and will be day-to-day going forward, with the hope that he can return to practice on Wednesday, ahead of a showdown with the Jaguars nine days from now. Herbert was fantastic, and showed all the toughness and courage needed to be a top tier QB, and the team will need him healthy to take a big leap in 2022.

The Jaguars game will be key for Los Angeles to begin flexing their muscles on teams below them in 2022, and if Herbert can return, get his footing under him and put up a big score, confidence within the Chargers organization will be beyond sky high.
