Falcons Running Back To Miss Week 2 Clash With The Rams

The Atlanta Falcons put up a fantastic fight against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, and it was led by a fantastic performance from Corderelle Patterson, who put up a career high in carries and rushing yards with 22 carries for 120 yards and a score. While the Falcons are often game planning to get Patterson as many touches as possible, he doesn't usually take the majority of carries, but it was an injury to Damien Williams that forced their hand, and that will end up being the same in Week 2.

It was announced by Atlanta today that Williams would be out with a rib injury for the high profile clash against the defending Super Bowl Champs, and if they are to have any hope of competing, they'll be relying on Patterson to contribute a similar output. While he certainly has the talent to make it happen, consistency has been a problem throughout his career, but in 2022, the Falcons are relying on him to be a big part of this offence.

The Falcons were expected to struggle in 2022, and injuries are only going to make that worse, but if they can rely on Patterson to be that big play guy that he's capable of being, they'll be a lot of fun to watch, and should be able to compete with anyone in the league.
