Jets Place Offensive Tackle On Injured Reserve

The New York Jets already lost two starting tackles before the 2022 NFL season began in Mekhi Becton and his replacement, Duane Brown, and after a devastating loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, they've placed another tackle on Injured Reserve in the form of George Fant.

Fant was one of the Jets best players in 2021, as he played left tackle well throughout the season, but in pursuit of a longer contract this off-season, he's unfortunately been put through the ringer thus far in 2022. Not only was he moved to right tackle after the Jets signing of Brown, which hindered the potential of a bigger annual average on his deal, but then he was moved back to left tackle after the injury, a position at which he has unfortunately struggled thus far in 2022.

Max Mitchell has been a solid pickup for the Jets, as the rookie looks to have locked down the right tackle spot, but if the Jets can't get suitable play out of their left tackle, the returning Zach Wilson is going to be running for his life. Either way, it's unclear how long this injury will keep fans out of action, but if he's gone for a long time, it clouds the Jets 2022 season, as well as Fant's future with the organization.
