Official Timetable On Zach Wilson's Return Announced

The New York Jets have already announced that Joe Flacco will be the starter in Week 1 against his former team the Baltimore Ravens, which comes just a day after head coach Robert Saleh sold the idea of Zach Wilson potentially being ready for the season opener against Baltimore. Now, just a day later, the true timetable surrounding his injury has been revealed, as Saleh today told the media that the No. 2 overall pick from 2021 won't be available until the Jets play Pittsburgh in Week 4, at the earliest.

This comes as a blow to the Jets who were hoping that the young QB would be available to lead this young, talented core on offence from Week 1, but given his experience and how he played in limited time in 2021, there's no doubting that Joe Flacco will do a fantastic job. It's a crucial year for the Jets who have accumulated a fantastic core under General Manager Joe Douglas, but if the team can't start performing with the young talent, it may be time for the organization to move on once again.

2022 is going to be tough enough already, as the team starts with an absolutely brutal stretch, but with veteran QB Flacco leading the way, they may handle the stress, pressure and overwhelming odds against them a bit better. Either way, this will be a big year for the Jets and their young QB, but for now, fans of the team will have to wait at least another month before they get to see Wilson in action with some of the teams new weapons.
