Raiders Host Former Giants Linebacker For Visit

Blake Martinez was just released by the New York Giants ahead of the 2022 season, and the veteran of six years has yet to find a new home, but that could change very soon. The Las Vegas Raiders have hosted him for a visit recently, and with depth needed on the defensive side of the ball, it would be a good low risk, high reward move for a team who's unfortunately started 0-2.

Martinez was drafted by the Packers back in 2016, and since that time, he's racked up 686 tackles, 13 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 4 interceptions and 22 pass deflections, and has become one of the games most solid linebackers over that time.

Martinez spent the last two years playing with Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator, and it makes sense that he would try out for Las Vegas, as that is where Graham now serves as defensive coordinator. It's no done deal, but this move would make sense for both teams, and while the season may turn around with or without him, it adds depth and talent to a team that needs to improve if they want to compete in the AFC West in 2022.
