Buffalo Bills Safety Done for the Year

The Buffalo Bills will be without one of their veteran leaders on defense for the rest of 2022. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that safety Micah Hyde will be placed on injured reserve with the expectation he'll be done for the year. Hyde suffered a neck injury in the second half of the Bills' Monday Night Football 41-7 defeat of the Tennessee Titans. He had been seeking second opinions throughout the week, but the injury is apparently severe enough for Hyde and the team to exercise utmost caution. He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by Jaquan Johnson.

Hyde initially joined the Bills in 2017 following a four-year stint with the Green Bay Packers. He has earned a pair of second-team All-Pros with Buffalo, including in 2021 when he matched a career-high with five interceptions. Signed through 2023, Hyde should return to the Bills next season for his age 33 season.
