Raiders Reach Agreement With Star Tight End

The Las Vegas Raiders have already agreed on several extensions this off-season with Derek Carr, Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby, and today, the franchise came together on another extension, this time with star tight end Darren Waller. Waller was drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and after three years with Baltimore, including a one year suspension, he signed with the Raiders, and after another underwhelming season, began to break out as the star we see today.

Over the past three seasons, Waller has accumulated over 3,000 receiving yards, along with 14 Touchdown's, and given the weapons around him, Las Vegas knew it was smart to lock him up to keep this potentially elite offence together. The deal came together today, with Waller receiving a three-year, $51 million deal, making him one of the highest paid tight end's in league history.

Though Waller's new agent Drew Rosenhaus said it was one of the most difficult negotiations he's ever been involved in, the two sides came together, and on the eve of their 2022 season opener, the majority of this offence is locked up for the next few years at least. With Adams now in town, Waller may see his targets go down, but considering how much attention defence's have to pay to the best receiver in the NFL, it should open up plenty more big plays for Waller.
