Rap Superstar Eminem Offers to Suit up for Detroit Lions

Everyone's excited for the upcoming NFL season, including Eminem. The rapper recently visited the Detroit Lions and informed the team he was ready to take the field if they needed them. The team shared the clip from the upcoming season finale of HBO's Hard Knocks Thursday night:
Nee Marshall Mathers, Eminem is a hometown hero in Detroit, famously growing up in the city and honing his skills in its underground rap scene. They made a movie about it. 8 Mile? Maybe you've heard of it? Among the highest-selling musical artists of all time, he counts 15 Grammys, an Academy Award, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction among his many, many accolades.

A small school prospect out of Lincoln High School, Eminem is an undersized, feisty athlete whose eagerness to see the field makes up for modest physical tools. Though old for a rookie at 49, his creativity and willingness to embrace positional versatility could allow him to thrive on special teams. His showmanship and vocal dexterity should also quickly make him the first choice for motivational speeches in the locker room. He would bring intriguing, combustible star power to the Lions, but with only nine days until the team's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, it's unlikely he can prove an immediate contributor.
