NFL Rumors: Titans Rework deal for Star RB

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly reworked running back Derrick Henry's contract to give him a raise of $2 million, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport

Henry will now earn $14 million this season, the most out of any offensive back. Rapoport also adds that the Titans did not add any more years to his contract which is important to note because Tennessee moved the $2 million from his 2023 (the final year of his contract) to this season. This gives Henry $1 million more base pay and up to $1 million in addition per in-game roster bonuses, per ProFootballTalk.

If the All-Pro runner has another productive campaign, the Titans are likely to extend their star to a long term deal after this season.

The two-time Pro Bowler is the Titan's driving force on offense. In his notable 2020 season he rushed 378 times for 2027 yards, 17 touchdowns, and with 5.4 yards per carry.

Henry broke his foot in week eight of last season and missed the following nine games. The Titans are looking to bounce back this campaign after they were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals 19-16 in the AFC divisional round of the 2021 playoffs.
