49ers Defensive Star Placed On Injured Reserve

The San Francisco 49ers have been one of, if not the hardest hit teams by injuries in 2022, notably with the groin issues Nick Bosa is dealing with, along with the season-ending injury to starting QB Trey Lance, and now, it gets worse, as the team today had to officially place defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw on Injured Reserve, meaning he will miss a minimum of four games.

Kinlaw has appeared in just two games this year, and is yet to register a sack, with just two tackles made, and despite not appearing in a game since September 25, the 49ers are just now placing him on IR, meaning that he will be out for six straight games dating back to that game against the Denver Broncos. The team clearly believed that he could recover in time to make a return from his knee injury, but it appears to be worse than initially thought, so the team has given him an extra four weeks to get it right.

When he returns, Kinlaw will need to play a key role for this team if they are to make the run that they believe they can make, but right now, the defence is in shambles when it comes to health. The offence isn't doing much better, and if the 49ers can continue this roll and make it to the playoffs, they have the team to make a deep run, but now, it's just about getting healthy, and staying that way.
