Colts Declare Two Running Backs Out for Week 6

The Indianapolis Colts offense could have another ugly week of football ahead of it. The team declared their top two running backs Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines out for the team's Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Taylor and Hines had been questionable on the team's Friday injury report. Taylor missed the Colts' Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury but got in a pair of limited practices this week. Hines started against the Broncos in Taylor's place but exited in the first quarter with a concussion. He practiced fully on Friday after a pair of limited sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

With Taylor and Hines out, the Colts will split touches between Deon Jackson and Phillip Lindsay. Jackson joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2021. Lindsay signed with the Colts in September. They combined for 102 yards on 24 rushes in the team's 12-9 win over the Denver Broncos.
Taylor has been off to a tough start this season after last year's All-Pro performance. After leading the league with 2171 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns in 2021, he's down to 372 yards and a single touchdown to this point in the season. The Colts will hope he can get back on track in Week 7 in a crucial AFC South clash with the Tennessee Titans.
