Detroit Waive Kicker, Confirmer Starter For Week 5

The Detroit Lions have been one of the NFL's most enjoyable teams to watch thus far in 2022, but despite the incredible numbers they've put up offensively through four weeks, they find themselves with a 1-3 record, possessing the No. 32 ranked defence in the entire NFL. While kicker hasn't been the main source of their three losses, it was terrible for them in a Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and in order to fix that issues, today, the team has waived Austin Seibert, and named Michael Badgley as the teams kicker going forward.

Seibert won the starting job in training camp, but a follow up injury to a groin problem he had a year ago has reared its ugly head once again, and as a result, he has been waived from the team. To help fill the void, Detroit have signed Michael Badgley, who was last seen kicking in Week 4 for the Chicago Bears, but with Cairo Santos back, he has since been released from the team.

Badgley went 4-4 in his lone game for Chicago, and if Detroit can fix their issues at kicker and build up a respectable defence, this is a team that could no doubt genuinely contend for a playoff spot in a crowded NFC in 2022.
