Giants Defensive Back Placed On Injured Reserve

Tony Jefferson has been in the league since 2013, making him a veteran in the secondary, and while he's never been able to find a home for long or step into the level of superstardom that others see, he's always been a solid contributor, whether that be with Arizona, Baltimore or briefly San Francisco in 2021. Before the 2022 season began, he was waived by the Baltimore Ravens, and subsequently signed to the Giants practice squad, and while he was active for Week's 2 and 4, contributing 5 tackles to the surprising 4-1 team, they had to place him on Injured Reserve yesterday, meaning that the veteran will miss at least the next four games.

While he wasn't a starter for this team, we've seen many teams in the league already through five weeks suffer horrendous injury tolls, and losing someone like this may not seem like a huge deal until players keep getting hurt, and that's when they miss depth pieces more than ever.

Throughout his career, Jefferson has racked up 448 hits, 9.5 sacks and 20 passes deflected, and while he's never taken the step to get to a Pro Bowl level, he's been a solid player and a veteran leader on some playoff teams over the years. If he can get back and get healthy, this Giants team will no doubt find a spot for him, and when he comes back, this team could still be in the hunt for the playoffs, which will make his role on this defence even more vital.
