NFL Rumors: Saints to Be Without Three Top Receivers for Week 6

The New Orleans Saints will be operating with a bare cupboard at wide receiver Sunday afternoon when they host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6. ESPN's Adam Schefter announced late Saturday night that rookie wide receiver Chris Olave is not expected to play today due to the concussion he suffered in Week 5.

The Saints had already declared wide receivers Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry out on their final injury report. The trio lead the team in receptions and receiving yards through five weeks, combining for 728 yards and five touchdowns.

Without their top three pass catchers, the Saints will be obligated to funnel targets to Tre'Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway, and Keith Kirkwood. They will likely also lean heavily on Alvin Kamara in the run game. NFC Offensive Player of the Week Taysom Hill could also see more than his typical touches.

Olave joined the Saints this year as their 11th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He's been off to a hot start in his pro career, winning the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month in September and tallying 389 receiving yards in his five appearances. The Saints will hope to steal a win and move to 3-3 without him this week, and they'll cross their fingers he can return in Week 7 for a matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
