Patriots Sign Offensive Lineman To Active Roster

The New England Patriots have struggled to pick up wins thus far in 2022, despite some solid performances, and while it's hard to pin it on any one group, the team certainly has to do a better job at protecting the Quarterback. Unfortunately, they've struggled to do that at points, and it's resulted in injuries to Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer, and while one move for depth won't fix the problem, it certainly helps.

That's why on Wednesday, New England decided to sign offensive tackle Marcus Cannon to the 53-man roster, in order to improve the depth along the line, which will need to be doubly as good in Week 5 if Mac Jones is to return and play through an ankle injury.

Cannon started his NFL career with the Patriots from 2011-2020, where he would be a part of three Super Bowl victories, and after a stint with the Houston Texans, he was signed to the Patriots practice squad in September. He has appeared in 119 games over his career, with 73 of those being starts, and although he's no longer an elite level tackle, he will play an important role for the Patriots over the coming months.
