Most Likely Landing Spot For Tyreek Hill Revealed

The Miami Dolphins released Tyreek Hill back in February, and as the offseason has unfolded, one landing spot keeps rising above the rest.

A reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Multiple outlets including CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated have named Kansas City the most logical destination for Hill, and the prediction markets agree, with both Polymarket and Kalshi installing the Chiefs as the favorite to land him.

Why the Chiefs Make the Most Sense

The case begins with a void Kansas City has never filled.

Since trading Hill in 2022, the Chiefs have not had a consistent true No. 1 wide receiver alongside Travis Kelce. The emergence of Rashee Rice is starting to fill that void, but availability has been an issue.

Hill accounted for just over 25 percent of Kansas City's receiving yards in his final two seasons there, and since his departure, no Chiefs receiver has come close to that kind of production, with Rashee Rice the team's leading wideout at just over 10 percent.

Both Hill and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are returning from ACL injuries suffered in 2025, potentially putting their recoveries in sync.

The noise out of Kansas City has been real, with Chris Jones posting an alarm clock emoji tagging Hill within hours of the Dolphins' release and Tyrann Mathieu publicly saying a reunion makes football sense.

Hill himself fueled the speculation before his release, posting a cryptic "I want to go home" message on social media, with Kansas City the most natural interpretation given he began his career there in 2016.

The Health Question Hangs Over Everything

The reason this remains a projection rather than a done deal is Hill's medical situation.

He suffered a gruesome knee dislocation in Week 4 of the 2025 season against the Jets, tearing multiple ligaments including his ACL and requiring near-immediate surgery.

His agent Drew Rosenhaus has said Hill has a realistic goal of being ready for the start of 2026, but a torn ACL at age 32 following multi-ligament damage is a big career question mark.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that veteran free agent receivers like Hill may play a waiting game, hand-picking opportunities right before or even a week or two into training camp.

"Tyreek Hill has an injury situation where he might not be ready until midway through the season," Schefter said. "That may be a down the line thing."

The Other Contenders

The Chiefs are not the only team in the mix.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been floated given their significant cap space, Justin Herbert's arm strength, and the presence of former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator, a scheme Hill already knows.

The Bears have surfaced as a wild card thanks to their cap room and the appeal of pairing Hill with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, though a rebuilding team may not fit a player chasing another ring.

The Bills, an early rumored fit, have since loaded up at receiver by trading for D.J. Moore, making them among the least likely destinations now.

If Hill's knee checks out, a return to Kansas City on a team-friendly deal is the outcome that makes the most sense for everyone involved.
