Titans Release Wide Receiver Off Practice Squad

The Tennessee Titans are coming out of their Week 6 bye with a 3-2 record, and with no one stepping up to establish themselves as the dominant team in a relatively weak AFC South, they've got the chance to make their mark going forward. With Treylon Burks still on Injured Reserve, the team will have to do so with a relative lack of weapons on the outside, which makes their move this morning even more of a head scratcher to most.

Today, the Titans announced that they have released wide receiver Josh Gordon from their practice squad, and while he wasn't able to be effective in the two games he's played for the team this season, he's still a veteran with all the skills to get it done at the NFL level, so it's an odd move to say the least. The biggest problem with Gordon throughout his NFL career is the discipline, but with no signs of the old Josh coming out in 2022, it would have made sense for Tennessee to keep him around, at least until Burks returns.

Either way, the Titans kick start their post-bye season with matchup against the 3-2-1 Indianapolis Colts at home, and if they are to make a deep run this year, they'll need to find some production on the outside, to at least take some pressure off Derrick Henry, who looks like he has returned to his best in previous weeks.
