49ers Confirm Severity Of Running Back's Injury

After an impressive rookie campaign back in 2021, the San Francisco 49ers expected running back Elijah Mitchell to play a massive role in their offence in 2022, but unfortunately, he began the season suffering a knee injury, and just weeks after his return, he is once again dealing with a knee injury.

The 49ers made the shock move to acquire superstar Christian McCaffrey at the trade deadline, and now, that move will pay off big time, as Kyle Shanahan today confirmed that the latest knee injury suffered by Mitchell will keep him out for anywhere between 6-8 weeks, meaning he may potentially return in time for a playoff run if all goes well.

When healthy in 2022, Mitchell has once again looked solid, but thankfully for San Francisco, McCaffrey has looked every bit of the dual threat we've seen in previous years, and if Mitchell can't get back for a potential playoff run, the team will still have a solid run game.
