Chiefs Won't Release Running Back Who Asked For It On Twitter

This past week, a story emerged where veteran running back Ronald Jones took to Twitter to ask the Kansas City Chiefs for his release, and while they clearly haven't done so yet, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the franchise have no intention of doing so this year, even if they haven't yet played him very often.

In four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 25-year old has put up over 2,800 all purpose yards to go along with 19 Touchdown's, and while he likely didn't expect to be the full-time starter when he signed with the Chiefs this past off-season, it's become clear that he expected to have a much bigger role in this offence. It's unclear yet why the Chiefs won't grant Jones his release, as he is yet to be active for a game in 2022, but going forward, it's a situation that could become much bigger, as Kansas City are clearly wasting his talents this year.

The Chiefs have been getting plenty of production from their backfield thus far in 2022, so there's no reason to change anything, and while Jones is solid depth, when a player is this unhappy that they take to Twitter, it's strange to see them not granting the release. Still, the story will no doubt be updated soon, but right now, it appears the Chiefs won't be working with Jones to find him a new home going forward.
