Falcons Running Back Sets All-Time Record

The NFL has a new all-time kick return touchdown king! With an exhilarating 103-yard runback, Atlanta Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson broke a three-way tie for first all-time with his ninth career kick return touchdown.

Patterson previously shared the record with Leon Washington and Josh Cribbs at eight. It was Patterson's first return touchdown since 2020.

Patterson has long been a deadly kick returner, but he has seen his opportunities decline as his value to NFL offenses has increased. He had only returned 22 kicks since 2021 before today's game. Meanwhile, he has averaged 73.1 yards from scrimmage per game over that span, up from 24.4 over the first 127 games of his career.

A four-time All-Pro at kick returner, Patterson has just about secured his place in history as one of the NFL's all-time greatest specialists. With his recent emergence as a powerful runner and receiver out of the backfield, he still has time to add to his legacy by more typical means.
