Jets Wide Receiver Will Return in Week 12

The New York Jets are licking their wounds after an embarrassing effort in a 10-3 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 11, but they'll have plenty of cause for optimism when they take the field in Week 12. Head coach Robert Saleh shared at his Friday press conference that wide receiver Corey Davis will return for Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears.

Davis has been unavailable since suffering a knee injury early on during the Jets' Week 7 16-9 win over the Denver Broncos. He had totalled 351 receiving yards and two touchdowns at a respectable 10.64 yards per target across his first six appearances this season.

Davis's return should provide the Jets offense with a boost as they attempt to shake things up this week. The team benched second-year quarterback Zach Wilson and intends to start quarterback Mike White against the Bears. With Davis's help, White should have a solid chance of outperforming the former second-overall pick.

Davis joined the Jets as a free agent before the 2021 season, signing a three-year, $37.5 million deal. He initially entered the league as the fifth overall pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2017 NFL Draft. He totalled 2851 receiving yards in 56 appearances with the team.

Injuries have limited Davis's productivity in his tenure with the Jets so far: he has compiled only 53 receptions for 843 yards in his 16 appearances with the team. When available, he's an efficient and reliable target, averaging 52.7 yards per game and 9.1 yards per target.
