NFL Rumors: Cardinals Quarterback to Return in Week 12

The Arizona Cardinals are trying to keep their season alive following a horrendous 38-10 Monday Night Football loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and they should have their franchise passer back in Week 12 to help turn things around. Quarterback Kyler Murray expressed his confidence that he'll be back on the field against the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday.

Murray has missed the last two weeks with a hamstring injury. Backup quarterback Colt McCoy led the Cardinals to a 27-17 win in his first start but stumbled to a humiliating 38-10 defeat at the hands of the 49ers this past week.

At 4-7, the Cardinals can't afford many more losses if they want to make the postseason. Murray will need to hit the ground running in his return and perhaps even exceed his play from earlier in the season. Unfortunately, Murray is notorious for late-season swoons. He sports an 83.9 passer rating across 13 starts in the month of December compared to a 92.6 mark overall in his career. The Cardinals will need him to turn around that troubling trend in a hurry.

Murray initially joined the Cardinals as their first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft following a Heisman Trophy-winning season with the Oklahoma Sooners. He made the Pro Bowl in two of his first three seasons, earning a five-year, $230.5 million extension from the Cardinals earlier this offseason. He sports a 25-29-1 record across his first 55 appearances with the team.
