NFL Rumors: Giants Wide Receiver to Return in Week 10

The New York Giants should finally have a chance to evaluate one of their 2021 free agency splashes when they return from their Week 9 bye. At a Thursday press availability, wide receiver Kenny Golladay expressed confidence he'll be available for the team's Week 10 matchup with the Houston Texans. Golladay suffered a knee injury in the Giants' Week 4 20-12 win over the Chicago Bears. He has struggled to see the field for much of this season, nabbing only two of his six targets for a minuscule 22 yards in his four appearances.

The Giants made a massive investment when they signed Golladay to a four-year, $72 million deal in 2021, but he has struggled to catch on in the organization. He tallied 37 receptions for 521 yards at a mediocre 6.9 yards per target in his debut season with the team, and be it injuries or a regime change, he's been off to an even slower start this year.

Golladay first entered the league as the Detroit Lions' 96th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. He emerged as a star for the team in his second year, totalling 2253 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns from 2018 to 2019. Despite only playing five games in 2020, the Giants took a chance on him, hoping he could emerge as their top pass catcher. If he doesn't carve out a role for himself over the team's final nine games, he may be forced to look for a better fit in the offseason.
