Packers Cornerback Exits With Multiple Injuries

The Green Bay Packers' pass defense has been arguably its greatest strength through eight weeks of the regular season, but it took a major hit early on in Week 9. Cornerback Eric Stokes was carted to the locker room with knee and ankle injuries, and the Packers quickly declared him out for the remainder of the game. The Packers shutting the door so quickly on a Stokes return indicates he may be looking at a serious injury and a potentially lengthy absence.

Stokes is a crucial contributor for a Packers defense that allowed the second-fewest passing yards in the league through eight games. He has started in all nine of his appearances, logging 26 total tackles.

Stokes initially joined the Packers as their 29th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. An exceptional athlete out of Georgia, Stokes had a strong rookie season for the team, allowing a mere 71.3 passer rating on throws in his direction. He's been less effective this year, permitting an ugly 123.5 mark on 25 targets.
