Reason for Cardinals OL Coach's Firing Revealed

The Arizona Cardinals raised eyebrows this week when head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced the departure of offensive line coach/run game coordinator Sean Kugler at a Tuesday press conference following a mysterious "incident." Details finally emerged Wednesday morning when ESPN's Josh Weinfuss revealed that the Kugler was fired for allegedly groping a woman in Mexico City.

Mexican authorities informed the Cardinals of the incident on Sunday night, who terminated Kugler and sent him home Monday morning ahead of the team's Monday Night Football matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. The Cardinals lost the game 38-10. Kugler's offensive line allowed three sacks and totalled only 67 rushing yards on 24 attempts in the humiliating defeat.

Kugler's dismissal is yet another black mark in what has been an ugly season for the Cardinals. At 4-7 and coming off arguably their worst game of the year, the Cardinals appear all but dead and buried in the NFC West. Barring a massive turnaround, they're likely to miss the playoffs this year,

As for Kugler, his future prospects in the NFL are at risk depending on how the legal process plays out in Mexico. If he avoids prosecution or punishment, he'll likely land on his feet somewhere toiling in obscurity in a similar role. He has previously coached for the Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos.
