Saints Rookie Designated To Return From Injured Reserve

The New Orleans Saints have had a somewhat disappointing start to the 2022 season, and while a rookie offensive tackle likely wouldn't have changed their fortunes, they've certainly missed No. 19 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Trevor Penning.

Penning made headlines in the pre-season, as he was involved in a fight for three straight days, and while that's what all the talk became about, he is most certainly a very solid player, and was expected to make an impact immediately for New Orleans in 2022. Unfortunately, he was placed on Injured Reserve back on September 1, and now, the Saints have activated his 21-day practice window, meaning that the NFL debut for the former Northern Iowa Panther will be just around the corner.

Sure, the Saints will need to change a lot of things to turn this season around, and while Penning won't be the catalyst to that turnaround, he will give this team a major boost whenever he is finally activated, but this is a positive step forward in that direction.
