Saints Sign Veteran Running Back

They finally made the deal happen.

The New Orleans Saints are signing running back David Johnson to their practice squad, five months after he visited them.
The veteran running back appeared in 13 games last season for the Houston Texans, rushing 67 times for 228 yards and no touchdowns. He's also a capable pass-catcher as well, recording 32 receptions for 225 yards and one touchdown on 42 targets last season.

The Saints have been shopping the free agent market for running backs all week, making a play for Eno Benjamin, which they failed to accomplish before settling for the thirty-year-old Johnson.

For his career, Johnson has amassed 4,047 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns, to go along with 2,758 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns over 87 games. He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals before spending the last two with the Texans.
