Jaguars Edge Rusher Suffers Torn Achilles On Thursday Night

He had to be carted off the field late in the fourth quarter.

Jacksonville Jaguars edge rusher Dawuane Smoot suffered a non-contact injury late in the final minutes of Thursday night's game. He was originally thought to have suffered a leg injury.

Now, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team has confirmed that Smoot suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the rest of the season.

The news is a brutal blow to the Jaguars, as Smoot has been an interior force for them this season and one of their best lineman.

The twenty-seven-year-old will end his season with 21 total tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two passes defended over 15 games.

Smoot is a former third-round pick by the Jags in the 2017 NFL Draft.
