Arizona Cardinals to Interview Bengals Defensive Coordinator for Head Coach

The Arizona Cardinals have another coach in their sights for their new head coach.

According to NFL Network's Peter Schrager, the Arizona Cardinals have requested an interview with Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo for their head coaching job.

Anarumo interviewed for the New York Giants' head coaching vacancy last season, but the Cardinals are, surprisingly, the first team to request an interview with him this offseason.

Anarumo joined the Bengals in 2019 as their defensive coordinator and has steadily improved the team's defense in each of the four seasons he's been with them.

This season, the Bengals were sixth in the league in points allowed per game (20.1) and 16th in yards allowed per game (335.7).

After helping lead the Bengals to back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship Game and a Super Bowl appearance, Anarumo has proved to be more than capable of building championship-caliber defenses.

As a result, it's a bit shocking that the Cardinals are the first team to interview Anarumo.
