NFL Commissioner Claims Refereeing Has 'Never Been Better'

Ahead of Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell faced the media with a press conference encouraging questions, and while he gave some great answers and insights into the future and thinking of the NFL, there was one answer that stood out among the rest as an odd one.

When asked about the officiating, Goodell made the statement "for us, when you look at officiating, I don't think it's ever been better in this league", and while it's certainly tough to get every call right on the field as an official, it's safe to say that no one who has watched a game in 2022 believes what Goodell is saying here.

The NFL has faced criticism for referees constantly influencing the results of games, even in one of the biggest games of the season, so while it's a tough job, the NFL world has been calling for these referees to face consequences all season long, and it's hard to agree with the Commissioner on this one.
