NFL Rumors: Dallas Cowboys "Starting Over" At Kicker

This seemed inevitable.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this week that the team will be "starting over" at kicker, basically implying that Brett Maher is done with the team.

Maher is set to hit free agency with his contract expiring at the start of the new league year, and Dallas is reportedly not interested in bringing him back.

The thirty-three-year-old signed on with the Cowboys this past season and was great during the regular season, converting 29-32 field goal attempts and 50-53 extra point attempts. He totaled 137 points, tying him for third in the NFL.
However, it all unraveled for Maher at the end of the season, as he missed six of his final seven extra-point attempts over a three-game stretch between Week 18 vs the Washington Commanders and the Cowboys' two playoff games.

Maher should be able to find a new job this offseason, but perhaps it won't be as easy now as it should have been.
