Saints Convert Safety's Salary Into Signing Bonus; Free Up Cap Space

The New Orleans Saints quest to get under the cap has begun.

The Saints have converted $6.07 million of safety Marcus Maye's base salary into a signing bonus.

The conversion of Maye's salary into a signing bonus frees up $4.756 million in cap space for the Saints, who enter 2023 a whopping $59 million over the cap.

The Saints will have their work cut out for them ahead of free agency, with this transaction being one of many ones to come.

Over 10 games last season in his Saints' debut, the twenty-nine-year-old recorded 60 total tackles, one forced fumble and two passes defended.
