San Francisco 49ers Legend Makes Shock Call For The Teams 2023 QB Battle

The San Francisco 49ers had an incredible 2022 season, highlighted by a 12-game winning streak that was ended in the NFC Championship Game, and the main reason for this is the untimely injuries that occurred all season long at the Quarterback position.

The general feeling around the team is that they'll be seeing a QB battle between Trey Lance and Brock Purdy in training camp, and even after their Head Coach confirmed Jimmy Garoppolo will not be returning, legendary 49er Joe Montana has claimed that he should be the starter when Week 1 comes around.

Given the limited sample size for both Purdy and Lance, it's understandable that a veteran Quarterback should be in that room, but after all that Jimmy G has been through in San Francisco, it would make no sense to bring him back as a starter.
