Suspended Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver Eligible for Reinstatement

The first step in Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley's comeback has finally arrived. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the suspended former Falcon is officially eligible for reinstatement today. Ridley was suspended indefinitely for gambling on NFL games while away from the Atlanta Falcons in order to "focus on his mental wellbeing." He hasn't played a game since Week 6 of the 2021 season. In order to be reinstated, he will be required to convince commissioner Roger Goodell he has sufficiently learned his lesson and changed his ways.

The Jaguars acquired Ridley at the trade deadline in 2022 for conditional draft picks that could climb high as a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick. At the peak of his powers, he was a promising young wide receiver with Pro Bowl upside. In 2020, he totalled 1374 receiving yards at an efficient 9.6 yards per target over 15 games, and he only just recently turned 28 years old. If Ridley can recapture his former explosiveness, he could prove a huge boon for a Jaguars offense that ranked 10th in scoring in 2022.
