Bengals Re-Sign Wide Receiver

The Cincinnati Bengals have made it official with their punt returner. The team announced they've re-signed wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year contract.

Listed at 5'8" and 180 lbs, Taylor is an undersized but shifty underneath receiver in the tradition of Julian Edelman. A fifth-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, Taylor totalled a career-high 430 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie and has seen his role shrink in the years since. He returned 33 punts for 340 yards for the Bengals in 2022 and pitched in six catches for 62 yards on 148 offensive snaps.

Taylor returned every single punt for the Bengals in 2022, so he's clearly earned their trust in the role. His 10.3 yards per return ranked sixth in the league. He won't have a major role on offense, unless injuries pile up in the Bengals receiving corps.
