Cleveland Browns Sign Cornerback Mike Ford

The Cleveland Browns have added to their secondary. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team has signed former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Mike Ford to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.

Ford entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2018. He started seven games with the Lions and appeared in another 24. He has yet to carve out a consistent starting role for himself through five NFL seasons; the Browns will mark his fourth team in four years. He'll be 28 years old before the beginning of the 2023 season.

Ford isn't a splashy signing or player: he has yet to record an interception, forced fumble, or fumble recovery in his pro career. But he is a consistent contributor on special teams, and he allowed a mere 46.1 passer rating on throws in his direction last season in his limited action (83 defensive snaps). Ford should provide the Browns with valuable depth.
