Minnesota Vikings Release Wide Receiver

The Minnesota Vikings waived wide receiver Thomas Hennigan, who had been signed by the team during training camp last summer.

Hennigan had initially been placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue and ultimately spent the entire 2022 season on IR.

Hennigan had an impressive college career at Appalachian State, where he set the school record for career catches with 242 and ranks second in the school's history for receiving yards with 3,124 and fourth for receiving touchdowns with 23.

He also set an FBS record for most games started with 65 and tied the school's record with 66 games played.

The Vikings are currently in need of depth at the receiver position, particularly after the departure of Adam Thielen, who was released last week and signed with the Carolina Panthers.

Despite Hennigan's college success, the 6-foot-1 receiver will now search for opportunities elsewhere to jumpstart his NFL career. Photo Credit: Andrew Wevers-USA TODAY Sports
