NFL Rumors: Seattle Seahawks ''In Talks'' With Star Free Agent Linebacker

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly in talks with veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner, who became a free agent after being cut by the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite attracting interest from other teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers, Wagner's potential return to Seattle is a top priority for the Seahawks.

General Manager John Schneider has confirmed that the team is still in contact with the eight-time Pro Bowler, who was a cornerstone of the Seahawks' defense for a decade before being cut last year.

Wagner's exceptional skills were on display during the 2022 season, during which he tallied an impressive 140 tackles, six sacks, and two interceptions, earning him a well-deserved Second-team All-Pro nod.

Although he is entering his age-33 season, his performance suggests he still has plenty of high-quality football left in him. A return to Seattle would help bolster the Seahawks' front seven and improve their defense for the upcoming season.

Despite his departure from the Los Angeles Rams after just one season, Wagner remains one of the top linebackers in the NFL, and Seattle is keenly aware of his value. The Seahawks drafted Wagner in the second round back in 2012, and he went on to become a cornerstone of their defense, earning first-team All-Pro honors six times during his ten seasons in Seattle.

A return to the Emerald City to close out his career would be a fitting end to Wagner's remarkable tenure in the NFL.

With their pressing need for a veteran linebacker, the Seahawks are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to bring back their former star.

A reunion that would bring Wagner back home to the team that first recognized his immense potential could be in the cards, and the team is actively pursuing that goal. Photo Credit: Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports
