Seahawks Interested In Drafting Quarterback Who Dominated NFL Combine

The Seattle Seahawks recently signed quarterback Geno Smith to a three-year extension after his impressive 2022 season.

However, NFL executives believe that the team may still be interested in drafting a quarterback with the fifth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Athletic's Mike Sando reports that rival executives are linking the Seahawks to former Florida standout Anthony Richardson, who is considered a "freak talent" despite his lack of starting experience. Sando also notes that Richardson had a good interview with the Seahawks at the NFL Combine, and Seattle GM John Schneider may be interested in his potential as a long-term quarterback option.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also linked the Seahawks to Anthony Richardson on Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

While the Seahawks' $100 million investment in Smith may give them short-term security at the quarterback position, the team may still be considering Richardson as a potential future franchise quarterback.
