NFL Trade Rumors: New York Giants Sign Wide Receiver Allen Robinson

The New York Giants have added a veteran to one of the NFL's most barren wide receiver corps. The team announced the signing of former Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angles Rams, Chicago Bears, and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson.

It's been a rough couple of years for Robinson. After signing a three-year, $46.5 million deal with the Rams in 2022, he immediately proved a poor fit, stumbling to 339 yards receiving at 6.5 yards per target over 10 appearances. The Rams traded him to the Steelers for a late-round pick the following offseason, absorbing significant dead money.

Robinson didn't fare much better in Pittsburgh. To his credit, he started all 17 games and earned 771 offensive snaps. Unfortunately, he served mostly as a decoy: He nabbed a mere 34 receptions for 280 yards at an underwhelming 5.7 yards per target. The Steelers finished 28th in points scored with 17.9 per game.

Still, Robinson remains only 30 years old, and it wasn't so long ago he was an effective, quarterback-friendly pass catcher who could win with quickness (4.00 20-yard shuttle) and length (6'3" and 39" vertical jump). He even managed a few Pro Bowl-caliber seasons with the Jaguars and Bears despite playing with middling quarterbacks like Mitch Trubisky and Blake Bortles. There's a chance Robinson will see significant snaps for the Giants next season. However, it's unlikely he's part of an effective, winning offense.
