NFL Free Agency: Veteran Wide Receiver Eager To Play For Steelers Next Season
The Steelers traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in May, leaving newly acquired DK Metcalf as Aaron Rodgers’ primary target. Behind him, the depth chart thins quickly - Robert Woods, rookie Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin III, and Scotty Miller are all unproven or inconsistent.
Boyd, who had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons earlier in his career and has postseason experience, could be a reliable presence.

Tyler Boyd says he’d absolutely join the Steelers….
“All my family is here… I’m cool with Tomlin… If it happens, it happens.”
Pittsburgh needs a WR!
Should the Steelers sign him? 🤔

Boyd’s Fit in Pittsburgh Makes Sense
Boyd spent eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Tennessee Titans in 2024. While last season was his least productive in years (390 yards on 39 catches), instability at quarterback and a late-season foot injury didn’t help.
In 2023, he posted 667 yards with the Bengals despite sharing snaps with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Boyd thrives in a complementary role and could slide into the slot for Pittsburgh, giving Rodgers a trusted, experienced third-down option.

More than just a hometown story, Boyd has real ties to the Steelers organization. He played college ball at Pitt, trained alongside Antonio Brown during his early years, and still has a strong relationship with Tomlin. He’s stated he hopes to play “three or four more years,” and Pittsburgh’s current wideout room could use his reliability, especially if injuries or underperformance strike.
Will the Steelers Call?
Boyd hasn’t heard from teams recently but expects calls to pick up once training camps open. Given Pittsburgh’s need for depth and Rodgers’ win-now window, Boyd offers a low-risk, high-reward upside and would bring a veteran presence.
