NFL Rumors: Patriots Very Interested In Trading For Elite Wide Receiver
Patriots Reportedly Target Terry McLaurin in Potential Trade
After splurging $300 million in free agency and signing Stefon Diggs, the team is now reportedly “very interested” in trading for Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
According to NFL insider Albert Breer, McLaurin would fit perfectly into New England’s plan to build around rookie quarterback Drake Maye, if he officially hits the trade block.

McLaurin, who has five straight 1,000-yard seasons, is growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of a contract extension. Entering the final year of a $68 million deal, he recently voiced disappointment over how negotiations have stalled, stating: “You don’t want to feel like you have to beg for someone to see your worth.”
Would you trade the Patriots 2026 2nd + 2027 4th to the Commanders for Terry McLaurin?

While the Patriots have already committed big money to Diggs, their interest in McLaurin is rooted in giving Maye elite pass-catching options for the long haul.
The cost would likely include a second- or third-round pick and a new contract, possibly north of $25 million per year. That’s no small investment, especially with Christian Gonzalez due for a major payday in 2026.
