Fant joined Seattle as part of the 2022 Russell Wilson blockbuster and totaled 1,400 receiving yards and five touchdowns over three seasons with the team. His role steadily declined, especially in 2023, and with Arroyo’s arrival, and strong praise from head coach Mike Macdonald, it became clear Fant was the odd man out.
“This guy can run an extensive route tree,” Macdonald said of Arroyo. “He brings a skill set we didn’t have on the roster.”
Seahawks released veteran tight end Noah Fant, the 2019 first-round pick who was acquired in the 2022 trade that sent Russell Wilson to Denver. Over the past three seasons in Seattle, Fant started 42 games and had 130 receptions for 1,400 yards and five touchdowns.

With Fant out, Seattle’s tight end room now leans young and versatile. Barner, Arroyo, and veteran Eric Saubert headline the group, with undrafted rookies Marshall Lang and Nick Kallerup also competing for depth roles in training camp.
As for Fant, the 27-year-old former first-rounder still offers upside and could draw interest as a low-cost veteran option elsewhere, possibly even a reunion with the Denver Broncos, though their TE room appears full.
