NFL Rumors: Former Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Urges Chiefs To Sign Him

Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson reacts during 2021 game.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver depth took a major hit in Week 1 after rookie Xavier Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder against the Los Angeles Chargers

With Rashee Rice still suspended and rookie Jalen Royals sidelined, Kansas City is scrambling for help and one veteran is volunteering his services.

Robinson takes to social media with Chiefs pitch

Former Chicago Bears star Allen Robinson made his case directly to the Chiefs via X. “No cap, Chiefs I’m a free agent, I swear I could help y’all,” Robinson wrote, later posting video highlights from his time with the Detroit Lions

The 32-year-old wideout, who last played in Detroit with limited production (3 catches for 30 yards in 2024), is clearly eager for another NFL shot, ideally with a contender.

Chiefs must weigh need against veteran decline

At his peak, Robinson was a top target with three 1,000-yard seasons, including back-to-back years in Chicago (2019–20). Since then, injuries and declining speed have slowed his career. He logged 34 receptions for 280 yards with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023 and failed to stick in Detroit last season.

While Robinson brings name value and experience, the Chiefs may prefer younger or more productive free agents such as Kendrick Bourne, Tyler Boyd, or DJ Chark.
