San Francisco 49ers Sign Top Free Agent Wide Receiver
The San Francisco 49ers are reuniting with a familiar face.
Veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has signed a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, according to multiple reports. The move comes at a crucial time, with Jauan Jennings and George Kittle exiting Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks due to a shoulder injury and Brandon Aiyuk still sidelined on the PUP list as he recovers from knee surgery.

49ers Bring Back Kendrick Bourne Amid Injury Concerns
Bourne, 30, first broke into the league with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in 2017, spending four seasons in Kyle Shanahan’s system before heading to the New England Patriots in 2021.
His best season came that year, when he hauled in 55 catches for 800 yards and five touchdowns. Injuries and competition later limited his role, but across eight NFL seasons he has totaled 3,714 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns.

For the 49ers, the timing of Bourne’s return couldn’t be better. Beyond Jennings and Aiyuk’s injuries, second-year receiver Jacob Cowing is out long-term with a torn hamstring, rookie Jordan Watkins is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain, and veteran Demarcus Robinson remains suspended until Week 4.
Bourne’s familiarity with Shanahan’s offense gives Brock Purdy an experienced, reliable target as San Francisco looks to stabilize its passing game early in the season.
